Tax Preparation
Business and personal returns, prepared carefully and explained clearly, remotely, in person, or a combination of both.
Three things every return gets
Your choice of format
Entirely remote through the secure portal, in person at the office in Susquehanna, or a combination. Nothing about the quality changes either way.
Compliance everywhere you file
Federal, state, and local. Around here that regularly means Pennsylvania and New York both, plus local returns that other preparers forget exist.
Every detail caught
I go through the return looking for the deductions and credits that apply to your situation specifically, not a generic checklist run at speed.
Returns I handle
- Individual returns: W-2 income, families, retirees, students, investment income
- Self-employed returns: Schedule C, contractors, freelancers, side businesses
- Business returns: LLCs, partnerships, S corporations
- Multi-state returns: PA and NY, which is routine in this county
- Prior-year and unfiled returns: catching up on years you’ve missed
Pricing is quote-based. Returns vary too much for a published rate to be honest. Call me, tell me what your year looked like, and you’ll have a number before any work starts.
1. Call
A few minutes on the phone about your year. I quote you.
2. Send documents
Secure portal, drop off, or bring them in.
3. I prepare it
Line by line, checked against every department you file with.
4. Review & file
I explain what it says, you sign, it’s filed.
Already having your books done here?
Tax return preparation is included in all three monthly bookkeeping plans. If you’re a business owner paying separately for bookkeeping and tax prep, it’s worth a conversation.
“For the first time in over 25 years I chose to have someone do my taxes rather than do it myself. Braun FAS were very thorough and professional. Mike ensured all possible deductions and tax credits were processed which resulted in a substantial refund.”
“Mike is a reliable, honest, and highly skilled tax professional. He made filing my individual tax return completely stress free and easy to understand.”
“We contacted Mike when our previous accountant had to go out on medical leave. We needed someone to prepare and file the return for our LLC. Mike worked quickly and stayed in touch with us during the entire process.”
Tax preparation FAQs
It depends entirely on what’s in it. A single W-2 return and a return with a business, a rental, and two states are very different pieces of work, so I don’t publish a flat rate that would be wrong for most people. Call me, describe your year, and I’ll quote you before I start.
Whichever you prefer. Fully remote works through the secure portal with electronic signature. In person means coming to the office in Susquehanna. Plenty of clients send documents online and then come in to review before signing.
Income documents (W-2s, 1099s, K-1s), last year’s return if I didn’t prepare it, and anything relevant to deductions. I’ll send you a specific list after we talk, because it varies.
Yes. Living in one state and working in the other is completely normal in this area, and multi-state returns are routine work. I’ll also make sure any local returns are handled.
Once I have your complete documents, most returns are ready for review within a week or two. During the back half of filing season it can run longer.
Call me. If a letter arrives, or something comes up in July, or you just want to understand something on the return, that’s part of working together, not a separate billable event.
