Read-only access to the QuickBooks Online file, or a conversation about what you’re starting from.
2. I assess it
I go through the file and work out what’s actually wrong and how much work it represents.
3. You get a fixed quote
One number, agreed before any work begins.
4. Cleanup and handover
The work gets done, you get before-and-after statements, and we talk about keeping it clean.

Common signs: your bank accounts have never been reconciled, there’s a large or growing balance in Uncategorized Expense, your profit and loss shows numbers you can’t explain, the balance sheet has negative balances that make no sense, or you have duplicate transactions from a bad import.
Reviewing and recategorizing transactions that were coded wrong or not at all, removing duplicates, fixing the chart of accounts, and then reconciling every account back to the actual bank statements. At the end you get a before-and-after comparison of your financial statements.
Because it shows you what was wrong. Most people have never seen the difference between their books as they were and their books as they should be, and that comparison is usually the moment it clicks why reconciliation matters.
Then this is a setup project instead. I’ll get QuickBooks Online configured properly for your business and bring in your history so you’re starting from a real position rather than from zero.

Most clients move onto a monthly bookkeeping plan so the file stays clean. A cleanup fixes the past, but only monthly maintenance stops it happening again.
